ABOUT SOLAR PV
What Is Solar PV and How Do Solar Panels Work?
Solar photovoltaic panels, also known as solar PV panels, convert daylight into direct current electricity. An inverter then converts this into alternating current electricity that can be used by suitable electrical circuits in the property. Solar generation depends on roof orientation, shading, system size, daylight levels and installation quality.
A solar PV system can help generate electricity for use in the property, reducing the amount imported from the grid where generation and usage align. Where a system produces more electricity than is used on site, surplus electricity may be exported under a Smart Export Guarantee tariff, subject to supplier terms, metering and eligibility requirements.
