ABOUT EMERGENCY LIGHTING CERTIFICATES
What is an Emergency Lighting Certificate?
An emergency lighting certificate or test record documents the checks carried out on emergency lighting systems or fittings included in the agreed scope. It may record the date of test, areas checked, fittings tested, test duration, results, limitations and recommended actions.
The record can support the responsible person’s fire safety management duties, but it does not guarantee that the whole premises is risk-free, fully compliant, accepted by insurers or free from future emergency lighting faults.
The certificate reflects the emergency lighting systems and checks included at the time of inspection or testing. Further maintenance, repairs, replacement lights, design review, fire risk assessment or retesting may be required depending on the findings.
