SERVICE SCOPE
What Does Fire Extinguisher Service Involve?
Fire extinguisher servicing normally involves inspection, maintenance checks and service records for portable extinguishers included in the agreed scope. The service helps identify visible defects, pressure loss, missing labels, damaged parts, access issues or extinguishers that may need recharge, replacement or further attention.
A service visit may check whether extinguishers are visible, accessible, correctly located, unobstructed and labelled. Brackets, pins, tamper seals, operating instructions, hoses, nozzles and casing condition may also be checked where applicable.
Depending on extinguisher type, age and condition, the service may include pressure gauge checks, weight checks, corrosion checks, hose/nozzle review, service labelling, maintenance records and recommendations for recharge, extended service, overhaul or replacement where required.
Maintenance actions may include cleaning, replacing minor components, recharging or recommending replacement where appropriate. Findings and actions should be recorded on a service label, logbook or digital record where included in the agreed service.
